The Wisconsin Association for Home and Community Education is a 501(c) 3 non-profit educational organization comprised of member associations in 46 Wisconsin counties.  The organization is unique in that members extend information they receive from the University faculty and other reliable sources to the membership and community.  Program planning and leadership training are provided by a collaborative effort of WAHCE, Inc. and the UW-Madison-Division of Extension Programs.

WAHCE HOUSE LOGO

The roof of the home symbolizes our past heritage with Extension Homemakers.  The letters H (Home), C (Community), and E (Education) make it a suitable logo by the state, county, and club.  The house without walls confirms a commitment to membership open to all, regardless of race, color, creed, religion, sex, age, handicap or national origin.

Wisconsin HCE is divided into six districts. There are clubs in counties within these districts. To find a club near you, click on Contact and then WAHCE Counties. Explore this website to find out what HCE is all about, find a club in your county and visit them to enjoy the fun and participate in projects and events.

HCE members enjoy the company of others while:

  • holding educational programs with topics such as “How to Read Your Credit Report”, HOGS for Heroes, Sleep Apnea, or Chair Yoga
  • performing service projects in their communities with a clothing exchange, sewing quitlets for hospitals in Nicaragua, collecting personal care items for shelters,
  • reading to children and then giving them the books in our Wisconsin Bookworms project (over 800,000 in 23 years)
  • hosting social events like an International Dinner or Style Show
  • monthly club meetings in each other’s homes
  • participate in county, district, state and national events

OUR GOALS ARE:

  • To provide continuing education for members and others on issues that will strengthen families and communities.
  • To develop and improve leadership skills of members.
  • To build coalitions with other organizations and agencies having similar objectives and concerns as WAHCE, Inc.
  • To promote friendships and understanding with all people of the world.
